Geoffrey Bird

 Mr. Bird is a member of BBL Lawyers and is a corporate commercial solicitor with over 30 years of experience. He was a partner at a prominent downtown Vancouver law firm before joining the firm. Mr. Bird acts for private and public corporations on a broad variety of corporate and commercial matters. He has acted for both borrowers and lenders in the negotiation and documentation of credit facilities, secured (asset-backed) lending and related financing transactions. Mr. Bird's practice also encompasses regulatory applications and compliance and corporate financing for private and public corporations. In particular, he has acted for mining companies and has a specialized knowledge of the British Columbia mining sector having been employed as a geologist before entering the practice of law. He has extensive experience in complex corporate restructurings and reorganizations and is also experienced with cross-border offerings and acquisitions and listing of public companies on major stock exchanges. Mr. Bird has also provided advice to public and private companies in various aspects of their corporate governance practices and advice to Boards of Directors on their fiduciary responsibilities and liabilities generally. He has served on the Boards of Directors of charitable organizations and public companies, as well as on audit, compensation and governance committees.
